Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and Vodafone Group Plc CEO Vittorio Colao have written a letter seeking PM's intervention on 3G roaming issue. The issue pertains to the pact among major service providers, including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular, for providing 3G roaming network on a Pan India basis. EXPERT VIEWS

"The direct role of monetary policy in combating food price pressures is limited, but in the face of sustained high food inflation, monetary action may still be warranted to anchor inflation expectations. The higher food subsidy burden on the budget will raise the fiscal deficit, exacerbating macro level inflationary pressures."

Duvvuri Subbarao
Governor, RBI
"They continue to insist on protecting $ 100 bn worth of tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans at any cost, even if it means reducing the deficit with deep cuts to things like education and medical research. Even if it means deep cuts in medicare. And so far, that refusal continues to be the main stumbling block that has prevented Congress from reaching an agreement to further reduce our deficit."

Barack Obama
President, U.S.
"The volatility in the rupee, which fell to a record low on Tuesday, is a reflection of the uncertainty in the international market. We expect there will be a self correction in the market..."
