13/7 MUMBAI BLASTS: POLICE SEARCH FOR CLUES
Maharashtra Police ATS chief Rakesh Maria said on Thursday that it has registered 3 cases in connection with the triple bomb blasts that left 17 people dead and 131 injured on Wednesday. ATS has taken over the probe. Close to 12 joint teams of ATS and Crime Branch have been formed and being closely assisted by Central agencies. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi arrived in Mumbai today to express their condolences and sympathy. According to PIB press release, the timer devices used to trigger ammonium nitrate-based explosives were sophisticated. Almost 1 kg of ammonium nitrate was used to carry out the blast in Opera House, 400-600 gm were used at Zaveri Bazaar and 200 gm in Dadar. "There was no intelligence regarding a militant attack in Mumbai. That is not a failure of intelligence agencies," said Home Minister P Chidambaram in Mumbai. read more
