| | DIESEL PRICE HIKED BY RS 3/L, DUTY CUT BY 5% After putting it on hold for long time, the Empowered Group Of Ministers (EGoM), at a late night meeting on Friday, finally took the bold step of hiking the diesel price by Rs 3 per litre, kerosene by Rs 2 per litre and domestic LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder. EGoM agreed for 5% cut in customs duty on crude and petro products. Reduction in excise duty on diesel from Rs 4.60 litre to Rs 2 per litre. The meeting was attended by Pranab Mukherjee, Montek Singh, Jaipal Reddy, CP Singh and finance ministry officials.
