Diesel Price Up By Rs 3; Sensex Zooms 513 Pts; CCI Asks NSE To Pay Rs 55.5 Cr Penalty

DIESEL PRICE HIKED BY RS 3/L, DUTY CUT BY 5%
After putting it on hold for long time, the Empowered Group Of Ministers (EGoM), at a late night meeting on Friday, finally took the bold step of hiking the diesel price by Rs 3 per litre, kerosene by Rs 2 per litre and domestic LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder. EGoM agreed for 5% cut in customs duty on crude and petro products. Reduction in excise duty on diesel from Rs 4.60 litre to Rs 2 per litre. The meeting was attended by Pranab Mukherjee, Montek Singh, Jaipal Reddy, CP Singh and finance ministry officials. NCP's Sharad Pawar and DMK's MK Alagiri stayed out of the meeting.
