2 MORE N-BLASTS, JAPAN FACES RADIATION RISK
Japan's nuclear crisis assumed dangerous dimensions today as two more blasts rocked the quake-crippled Fukushima plant spewing large amounts of radioactive material which may float towards Tokyo, with Premier Naoto Kan warning that there was a "very high risk" of further leakage. The hydrogen explosions at No.2 and No.4 reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant this morning prompted the government to announce that the radiation had reached harmful levels. Four explosions have taken place in the past two days. Around eight hours after the explosions, the UN weather agency said winds were dispersing radioactive material over the Pacific Ocean, away from Japan and other Asian countries. read more < /a>

EXPERT VIEWS

"The impact (of Japan Tsunami) will be somewhat indirect. To some extent, Japanese investment in India will be affected because there will be so much of demand for investment within the country and there will be very little available to invest outside. So that would be warning fact."

C Rangarajan
Chairman, Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council
"These (Wikileaks reports) are elements of sensation and all the more senseless. These are subjective views of individuals at an unauthenticated and unverified stage. There is no question of accepting their veracity, no question of accepting their authenticity."

Mani Shankar Aiyar
Congress Spokesperson
"The repo rate should be the single policy rate to unambiguously signal the stance of monetary policy to achieve macroeconomic objectives of growth with price stability... With a corridor of 150 basis points, the Bank Rate should be fixed at repo rate plus 50 basis points and the reverse repo rate at repo rate minus 100 basis points."
